The history of shoes

Do you ever think about how long you might have owned something and how it's become a part of you over the years? I do this often, and while riding the train this morning I was staring down at my Java Montrail boot shoes I've owned since around June of 2002. Sonya bought me these shoes back in Bloomington and I've worn them through five Winters. They've been through Noreasters, rain storms, trails, everything. I've had mud packed on them so thick that I had to get a hose to remove it. Amazing when shoes can last so long. I almost feel like the owner of an old Honda where I'm trying to rack in 400,000 miles on them. Aside from my Montrails I still have my old Clark Wallabees that I've been meaning to resole for several years now. I got those around 2001. They're still in great shape minus the gum soles.

Apart from shoes in my current wearing mix, I have in storage a pair of still wearable Kangaroo boots that I got in 1987 while in college. The only thing about them is the rubber lining on the top portion are starting to peel off.

Blabblings

Another snowstorm overnight and this morning, we got around 5", and it's the heavy type.

After several weeks of trying out various content management tools, like Joomla, and Mambo, and phpWebsite, and Geeklog, Drupal is working out quite well. I even installed Wordpress and was pretty impressed by the depth of features that application has as a blogging tool. I thought about using it, but Drupal encompasses more than just blogging. Ned was telling me that he thought that there are plugins out there that can expand the horizons on Wordpress, but I feel that even though Drupal doesn't have as an extensive of features as Wordpress on blogging, it definitely still has more than what I need out of it. For those of you still on Blogger and are frustrated with the slowness to posting and how it will hang up or not publish your whole site, I'd switch to at least Wordpress in a second. There are tons of skins out that too for it and then you can modify it to your liking. Just my two cents.

I tell ya, I'm really digging the album English Cold by July Skies. It's been quiet a while since I've enjoyed something like this. The album was released back in 2004. The Amazon site has no reviews, so I'll probably add one even though it's out of stock. I'll let you decide what you think about them. You can listen on their Myspace page.
